On May 16, 2009, I competed for the 4th time in the O. Henry Pun-Off World Championships. After being delayed several hours due to rain, the outdoor event was moved into a hotel across the street. There are 2 events in the competition. In the Punniest of Show, contests perform a 90 second monologue on a topic of their choice. They are ranked on a scale of 1-10 by 4 judges.
The Punslingers event is a tournament style format that pits 2 contestants against eachother. A category is revealed, and the first contestant has 5 seconds to think of a pun. Then the next contestant has five seconds. Puns alternate back and forth until one contestant comes up empty.
Here’s my entry for this year’s Punniest of Show. I placed fourth!

Merry Christmas (a little late)! While celebrating Christmas with my family in sub-zero temperatures, we had some fun with Santa beards and trying to recite ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.

World Record Breaking Thriller Dance
On October 25, 2008 at 1:00pm CST, 3,960 people from 93 cities and 12 countries did the largest, simultaneous Thriller dance ever! It smashed the previous Guinness world record of 1,722 people.
In Austin, Texas, another Guinness world record fell at the same time. Austin had the Largest Thriller Dance in One Location ever with 881 zombies! It was awesome, and I was right there in the middle of it dancing away. I didn’t get to video tape, so here are a couple of the videos that some other folks posted.

The HIPS - Part 1 of 2
The HIPS had their second performance this past weekend at Gabriel’s Cafe, and it rocked! Brandon and Taylor kicked off the night with the Starland Vocal Band’s “Afternoon Delight.”

Here’s Tom singing Hank Williams’ “Lonesome Whistle.” His musical skills are anything but bass-ic.

I wrote this song for my sister who rode the bus to work this summer. It’s dedicated to all riders of public transportation, and it’s called “Miss You Bus.”
